TUSCANY’S MOST FAMOUS BISCUITS

Of Tuscany’s many famous biscuits, Cantucci biscuits are the most well-known. The origin of these biscuits is traced back to the 16th century, and their creation is strictly tied to the municipality of Prato. The first written evidence of these biscuits is found in a local author’s texts, which state Cantucci are like “slices of sweet bread with Almond”. Over the course of centuries, the recipe has evolved, but it has always remained tied to tradition. They were typically prepared in Tuscan households during the holidays, especially at Christmas, and were served as dessert with a glass of Vin Santo, a dessert wine from the region. A tradition that can still be experienced, thanks to our Almond Cantucci.
